The third annual AutoStore State of the Market echoed previous reports showing labor issues and supply chain disruptions as among the top concerns of logistics leaders. What's new is the issue of throughput. Many respondents in 2025 reported dissatisfaction with their throughput performance, despite the fact that 97% have some level of automation.

A: 97% of respondents use some form of automation, and 50% have automated at least half of their operations. Only 3% report no automation at all.

Interestingly, while throughput is a high priority, it remains one of the least tracked metrics—likely due to the lack of a standardized definition and reliance on proxy metrics like delivery time and picking accuracy.
